Find What FITS You

Many times you hear the word ‘fitness‘ and avoid any further thought on the matter. But what if I told you fitness isn’t just about physically pushing yourself; like sweating until you’re light headed and ready to throw up? Would you be intrigued then?

Fitness is described as, ‘the quality of being suitable to fulfill a particular role or task‘. In my opinion, it’s more than just your physical body! It’s about being fit in your…

MIND,
BODY & SPIRIT!

In this life, we have a particular role and we need to stay fit by having an active body, sharp mind and thriving spirit. That is how you stay healthy! You only have one body, and it is a temple, treat it as such!

But make sure your motives are pure! And what I mean by that is…

Don’t let your main fitness goal be to LOOK different but to FEEL better!

Your goal should definitely be to gain confident in who you are! God didn’t make a mistake creating you EXACTLY how you are!
I will be honest, I struggled with my body image when I was pregnant and after having kids. Lots of insecurities! It consumed me for a long time! And if I am not careful now, I still find myself obsessing over silly things that don’t matter!

“For we are God’s Masterpiece.”

-Ephesians 2:10a

So keep that body active! And find a way to make it fun! There are so many workout options available! (But we will get into that another time!)

It’s also essential to take care of the health of your mind!

I can attest to the challenges of this one as I battle depression and anxiety. This definitely takes its toll on your overall mental health. It is absolutely vital that you’re keeping your mind sharp. The best way to do this is first, acknowledge this may be an area of weakness, or one needing improvement. Then second, focus on exercising that specific area.

Just like a body part with an ailment, you tend to the area needing intentional care. With time, patience and the proper program, you will be on track to regain full function!

To start, try to think positive! Find a place, activity or whatever helps YOU quiet and still your mind.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Colossians 3:2

Now, the one that is intertwined between the first two: your spirit! Essential to truly live!!

This next verse says it all! Enjoy fitness by keeping your body active! Sharpening your mind and get that spirit thriving!

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

1 Timothy 4:8

One final question, WHY did you read this FITNESS article? There is something stirring inside of you to become more healthy, right? So what are you going to do about it?

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

*CHALLENGE: What is your MAIN goal for fitness? For your MIND? BODY? And SPIRIT?
Feel free to share! I encourage you to write your TOP 3 down and pray over them! Then get at it! You’ve got this!

Lord God, guide us! Help us use our bodies to honor You! Strip all insecurities of what society says we need to look like and focus instead on what You have told us we are, Your Masterpiece! Thank you for these bodies, made in Your Image, for Your glory! Please keep our bodies healthy! Away from sickness and injury! Protect our minds, bodies and spirits! In Your Holy Name, Amen.

My main goal would be to focus on keeping my mind fit. I’ve struggled so much the past 3 years with my RA and was unable to do the physical activities I used to enjoy so that took a huge toll on my mental health. Now that I’ve got my physical pain more under control I’ve slowly been trying to gain back my strength and work on my self-confidence which is a challenge. God made my body like this for a reason, and I know that I have to rely on Him everyday to take care of my physical, mental, and spiritual needs ❤️
