Anchors Away
Wind is howling, waves are crashing as the water begins to rise. Fiercely rocking you back and forth, back and forth. At any given moment, you could stumble overboard, enveloped by the raging storm. Hope seems lost.
In my blog, “Peace, Be Still” we learned to be still and have peace in the midst of the storm. Today, let’s prepare for those storms before impact.
So what do we need? An anchor. To keep us secure and firmly grounded. Anchors were designed for that very purpose. But,
Anchors can be temporary.
Many times we try to wield our own anchors as defense when the waves begin to crash. For each of us, that looks differently, but they will always yield the same result. Because no matter how durable we may think they are or how many hits they’ve taken, they will only temporarily hold.

Mark 4 revealed Jesus’ power! He can show up and calm our storms. He can speak and the waves grow still. But the truth is, He may not always call off the storm! However, we have HOPE because He does promise to always be with us.
“Never will I leave you, nor will I forsake you.”
– Hebrews 13:5b
Christ is the only anchor for our souls.
That is the HOPE we must permanently be anchored in!
But that is up to YOU! If you know Jesus, you’ve found your permanent anchor! Hallelujah! Now, to keep Him secure and firm you must each day, choose Him, abide in Him, cling to the HOPE He has promised. Because Jesus didn’t sacrifice His life on the cross to hold a temporary spot in your life. No, there is nothing more He desires than to be permanent.
‘I wait on the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His Word I put my hope.”
– Psalm 130:5
Allow God’s Word to instill that HOPE as your anchor today! And again tomorrow. And the next day. And the next…(repeat forever). Good night!
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
– Hebrews 6:19
*CHALLENGE: We all have temporary anchors that sustain us for only a short while. What is yours? How can you move to rid those temporary anchors for the permanent anchor, Jesus Christ?
Heavenly Father, thank you for being our anchor! You’ve given us a hope of salvation that is firm and secure each day. I pray that we never neglect Your truths and cling to You always! May we all have that hope found only in You! Please give us peace in the storms but Lord if you don’t calm the storm, help us to place our hope in Your hands. You, God are good, always! And You will never leave us, nor forsake us. Thank you! In Your Name, Amen.
